Villa Arabesque is located in the center of the Park of the Old Helsinki (Vanhakaupunki) 100 metres from the Gulf of Finland.
FROM THE HISTORY OF THE VILLA ARABESQUE
Villa Arabesque in the neoclassical style, was built in 1929 for the family of a Director of a spinning mill. The building was designed by renowned architect OLE Gripenberg.
His drawings were built all famous buildings in the centre of Helsinki, for example, the main branch of the Bank and the Department store Stockmann. Villa Arabesque is the only surviving private house, built according to his design. This house was built as a high-quality homes for the managing Director of a textile factory next door.
The house belonged to the Director of the factory until the 1950s
In 1958, the authorities Helsinki bought a house in the weaving factory.
Since 1959 the house was in use by different organizations, there was a music school, offices, etc.
In 2010, Helsinki wanted to renovate the house, but did not have enough money.
In 2012 the house was sold to a private owner.
Villa Arabesque is under protection as a monument of architecture and history.
