Arabs overpaid for Scotland Yard building in order to develop luxury housing

Investment Abu Dhabi Financial Group from the United Arab Emirates acquired the building from Scotland Yard on 10 Broadway Street in Westminster for £370 million, which is £120 million more than the amount expected by mayor's office in London, reports the ee24.com with reference to the British media.

Arab investors plan to build a luxury property there. Probably the building will host offices and a hotel. Mayor of London Boris Johnson has promised that famous rotating triangular device at the entrance with New Scotland Yard legend would be retained, but police said they would take it to the new building.

The building on 10 Broadway Street in the heart of the British capital was the Metropolitan Police Service headquarters since 1967. It was offered for sale in September 2014 due to budgetary cost savings. In recent years the police department arranged the sale of its property, selling 52 buildings and earning £215 million. Now, the Metropolitan Police Service will be located in a smaller building on Victoria Embankment.
