The Ukrainians are frontrunners in the number of residence permit obtained in Europe

The Ukrainians are leading in the number of new residence permits obtained in Europe – about 10% of all residence permits in 2013. In total, the EU has sheltered 2.36 million new non-EU residents, giving them residence permit for various reasons, that is 12.5% more than in 2012, but 7% less than 2008.

 

China is studying in Europe and Morocco is solving family problems.

According to the Eurostat, in 2013, the Russians were most active in obtaining residence permit in the Czech Republic (7146), Finland (4136), Latvia (3764), Bulgaria (2930), Cyprus (1798), Lithuania (1317), Greece (1311) , Malta (961) and Estonia (842), informs the ee24.com.

The Ukrainians often asked for a residence permit for work (two-thirds of all permits for Ukrainians) in Poland (more than 70% of all requests), in the Czech Republic and Slovakia (it is noteworthy that these data are valid for 2013, or almost on the eve of the events taken place on the Maidan, in the Crimea and on the east of the country).

Citizens of China and Brazil mainly obtained a residence permit for education (every second). Speaking about residence permit for family reasons, the leaders in this segment are the Moroccans (65.5%), the Turks (48.7%), the Russians (32.7%) and the Brazilians (29.9%).

1. The United Kingdom – 724,248 residence permits (mainly for education – the Hindus, Americans and Filipinos)

2. Poland – 273,886 (mostly for work – Ukrainians and Belarusians)

3. Italy – 243,954 (leads in family reasons among citizens of Morocco, China and Albania)

4. France – 212,098 (Algeria, Morocco, China)

5. Germany – 199,925 (Turkey, China, USA)

6. Spain – 196,242 (leader of family reasons among citizens of Morocco, China and Colombia)

7. Sweden – 99,122 (Syria, Somalia, Thailand)

8. Netherlands – 64,739 (China, India, USA)

9. Switzerland – 49,238 (USA, India, China)

10. The Czech Republic – 45,544 (Ukraine, Russia, Vietnam)

 

Studying in the UK and working in Poland

The first six countries from the second top 10, gave about 80% of all residence permit in the EU in 2013. It is noteworthy that the highest percentage of new-comers, who first obtained a residence permit in the country, was registered in Malta (24.1% per 1,000 of locals), Cyprus (13.3%), the UK (11.3%) and Sweden (10.3 %). And lowest percentage of new comers is fixed in Bulgaria (0.9%), Croatia (0.8%), Slovakia (0.8%) and Romania (0.6%).

Countries like Italy, Spain, Croatia, Greece, Belgium and Luxembourg, often house non-EU residents for family reasons. The education purpose is widespread in the UK, Ireland and Hungary. And the most "hard-working" countries, where expats from Third World countries are needed, are Poland, Lithuania and Cyprus.
