The Czech Republic will reduce the cost of public utilities

From 1 January 2014 the Czech Republic expects to significantly reduce the cost of electricity and gas to private users, transmits ee24.com with reference to the Czech media.

ERU, the Czech Energy Agency, reports that the cost of electricity for private households will be decreased by an average of 10.9%. The biggest discount is promised by the CEZ company - 12%. Company Pražská energetika will reduce the cost of electricity by 9.5% and E.ON will provide its customers with tariff reduction of 8.8%.

It is also expected to reduce the cost of gas for residential customers by an average of 5.19%. Large and medium consumers can expect a discount of 7.17%.

The decision to reduce the price of electricity was made in connection with a significant decrease in the market price of electricity. In addition, by the law on support of renewable energy sources, the Czech government will support the population with 495 kroons per MW. Altogether, the cost of electricity in 2014 will be 15.1% lower than in 2013.
